VENTURA, Calif. – According to KABC7, a DUI suspect was arrested at the scene of an accident where two people were killed in a crash on the 101 Freeway in Ventura. This occurred early 6/8 and it was a “wrong-way” crash, meaning that one of the vehicles was headed in the improper direction.
Just before 2:30 AM, 911 received calls of a driver headed south in the northbound 101 lanes at nearly 80 MPH in a Volkswagen Jetta.
Shortly thereafter, this southbound driver crashed into a Nissan Versa near Seaward Avenue in a “head-on” manner. Both in the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene. As of this writing, the names of the victims have not been released. The driver of the Jetta was taken into custody on both felony DUI and suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.
