SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 66-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries when a vehicle in the Hillcrest neighborhood struck her. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 PM in the 500 block of University Avenue. The victim was lying in the westbound No. 2 lane of University Avenue, on Sunday evening. There, a Jeep Wrangler struck her with the right front tire. The driver of the Wrangler remained at the scene, and emergency responders extricated the victim from beneath the vehicle.
The victim sustained a left hip fracture, brain bleed, and hemorrhagic shock. ERT transported her immediately to a local hospital. Their current condition and identity remain undisclosed. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident. Alcohol impairment was not a contributing factor.
